Vice-Chairperson – Lorianne Aubut

Diocese of Madison, WI (2028)

Lorianne Aubut was born and raised in Lares, Puerto Rico. I am married to a Catholic man, and we have four beautiful children ranging from ages 12 to 6 years old.
In 2008, I graduated with a BA in English Studies from the University of Puerto Rico (Mayagüez Campus). I attended Illinois State University for post graduate studies from 2008-2010. In 2016, I received the complete Catechetical Certification from the Seat of Wisdom Institute in the Diocese of Madison.
From 2010 to 2014, I worked in different positions within the Diocese of La Crosse: as a parish Youth Minister and Hispanic minister in Plover, WI, and then as a Spanish teacher, Campus minister, and English and Religion teacher in a Catholic middle school and high school in Stevens Point, WI. Between 2014-2021, I worked as the Coordinator of Elementary Faith Formation and Coordinator of Hispanic Ministry at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Madison, WI. There I introduced a new summer camp program and changed our catechetical program to be more evangelistic. I was also part of the Parish Leadership Team. During those years, I was closely involved with the V Encuentro process, representing our parish in the diocesan V Encuentro core team and leading one of the three diocesan committees for the planning of the Diocesan V Encuentro.
In 2021 I was awarded the Jack McBride Leadership in Ministry award given by the Madison Directors of Religious Education Organization.
In July of 2021, I was hired to be the diocesan face of Hispanic Ministry when the Office of Hispanic Ministry opened part-time, while also being the diocesan coordinator of Marriage and Family. Within the first year we created a one-year plan for the diocese, created a diocesan Hispanic Ministry advisory council, held regional gatherings/listening sessions and offered a variety of events to bring Hispanic communities. After a productive year, I became the fulltime director of the Office of Hispanic Ministry. In the first years, I coordinated a diocesan Hispanic Ministry Fair, planned a diocesan pilgrimage, planned and taught Spanish evangelization workshops. In 2023, I coordinated the Spanish side of the diocesan Eucharistic Congress and the visit of the St. Jude Relic to our diocese. In the past year, I completed and launched our new strategic Diocesan Pastoral Plan for Hispanic Ministry.
I have taught Catechetical and Evangelization courses within the Seat of Wisdom Institute and have given talks on Marriage, Prayer and Spirituality, the Kerygma, Catechesis and Evangelization, Discipleship, Ministry, and such. Most recently, I was a speaker at the Annual Conference of The National Catholic Association of Diocesan Directors for Hispanic Ministry, and I’m currently working with the USCCB and other directors to develop a national pastoral planning training.
I currently facilitate the meetings for the WI directors of Hispanic Ministry and I’m a WI rep within the executive board of the Midwest Catholic Association for Hispanic Ministry, besides being the association’s Vice-Chair. I currently sit as a member of the Board of Directors for SVDP in Madison and as a member of the Board of directors for the Encounter School of Ministry-- Madison Campus.
